Dear sellers, You have spoken and we continue to listen. Over the past couple of weeks we have heard from you and other members of our seller community about the issue of "non-serious buyers". We have heard the concerns that the current profile of buyers provided to sellers with new orders may be not be enough to sieve out the majority of non-serious buyers. Here's what we are doing to address the issue: We are in the process of commencing a manual verification process based on an internal rating of buyers. What this effectively means is that Konga will verify an identified segment of risky customers and get them to commit by paying upfront before the transaction reaches you. Below are some useful tips to also consider: DO NOT SHIP TO INCOMPLETE ADDRESSES: If you are self-fulfilling an order and the address given on the payment invoice differs from the one buyer requests to have the order shipped to, we advise that you exercise caution especially if the new address is not to a specific address but to bus-stops, landmarks, or meeting points with no specific location. Before shipping such orders, contact our mall team on 01-4605555 or send a mail to firstname.lastname@example.org IF UNSURE, ASK QUESTIONS: While these may not apply to all sales transactions, we believe being alert and aware will prevent you from falling victim to the majority of non-serious buyers. For all orders placed to your store and you are unable to reach the buyer on time, kindly contact our help line -01-4605555 and 080946055555 or send a mail to email@example.com.

Dear Atinuke, Thank you for your feedback. We are currently working out a process that will help us identify serious buyers and less serious buyers on Konga Mall based on their purchasing history. While we come up with such process in the shortest possible time that will ensure only serious transactions are made to your store, please be aware that Konga still offers the Pay-On-Delivery option to its buyers, as in Nigeria, trust is still a major factor where internet sales is concerned. As a seller on Konga Mall, you are also required to offer pay on delivery option to locations you have selected to ship orders. If however, you do not want to offer POD to certain locations, we advise that you turn off delivery to such cities. You can also reach out to buyers you are unsure of before proceeding to ship such orders to confirm their commitment. If you are unable to reach such buyers, you may contact us on 01-460555 and 08094605555 for further assistance.

It is sad to see Konga promoting POD to buyers despite numerous complaints from sellers. i was trying to order some stuff on line at Konga and as i added the items to my cart i got a pop up message via pop up window - " Still thinking? - Remember you can Pay on Delivery at ZERO risk"......Zero risk to the buyer, 100% risk to the seller. i find this message playing a role in the high rate of returns as a buyer may not be obliged to pay for this item, since Konga is selling POD to customers as ZERO risk.

Identifying unserious buyers on the platform is a very important issue that needs to be tackled by konga fast in order for sellers and konga to achieve more success. Some buyers are not even sure of their sizes and can order different sizes of a product just to try their luck without even minding that shipping these products cost money. Reason being, its pay on delivery so they are less concerned what happens to these products when they are being returned. Some even loose interest and by the time the products reach them, they have stories of why they are rejecting the products. I have a product that is yet to be returned to me and its about exactly 1 month now. I suggest Konga should bring in the Prepaid system of payment immediately (e.g. is Amazon) because, when a serious buyer pays for a product, he or she would wait patiently and track the product with keen interest knowing that he or she has committed funds into this transaction, thereby reducing the amount of returns and obviously pushing out the unserious buyers completely. An example is which I also shop from. Another point is, Konga should find a way of educating its buyers on ways to find out their sizes before they make their orders. This can be attached somewhere in the daily adverts to customers. Keep up the great work konga.

Am actually new to the platform, I think Konga should implement similar method like other online marketplaces e.g. Amazon where you'll have to pay for an order before shipping is arrange for you. While many enjoys the pay on delivery method, others are sabotaging it. Nigeria and Africa in general consist of so many unfortunate and undisciplined people. I see no reason why someone should place an order on a product and then said he/she never did or he/she doesn't want the product again. So why did you consciously click on the order button? Why should such nonsense happen? Why do we like abusing things in Africa? Why can't we be discipline and knowledgeable? Why can't we just behave ourselves like sane people? I'm just suggesting that Konga should remove the pay on delivery feature so that if you are not serious to buy you back off, if you are serious you pay at once and look forward to your delivery. So far, Konga are doing well and gaining the trust from the people. It was even compared with a sister establishment on a popular forum and it won on all levels. I think sellers that are contributing to this success needs some protection from Konga. Sellers need to be happy too. This is how I feel.

Identifying and taking care of unserious buyers on the platform will yield the much desired result of eliminating unproductive work for both sellers and Konga. That way we can free up resources to be channelled to more productive activities. I believe that the implementation of this idea is light years overdue. I must say that Konga is running the best business model so far when compared to their peers. Both Konga and its merchants operate like a family unit. Konga is doing great in carrying the merchants along with every change being made. I also believe that Konga is making the necessary changes required to compete effectively in the marketplace. All that is required is a more careful application of new requirements to ensure that they do not detract from the existing business momentum. Kudos to the Konga team for their resilience.

I seriously think the issue of Un-serious Buyers should be tackled with utmost urgency. We need to do this before even talking about Unserious seller. e.g i got an order last week and then called to confirm if to ship and then she responded that she made the selection online that i shoulld send what she put there. Now Kexpress attempted to deliver the item and am seeing Rejected by Customer . I tried calling the same number and i was told that they dont the person that placed the order. Also got an order yesterday and i made the call to the customer to confirm before accepting and then she's saying she doesnt want the order that she will cancel it. So why in the first place did she place the order??? As a matter of urgency .. Please lets filter unserious buyers first. Then it will be easier to identify the unserious sellers as well.
