  • Shipping Fees/Policy: A major deterrent for buyers

It is understood that Konga is a mall where people offer products across various categories to sell, thereby putting sellers at the fore-front.
While it is a good idea to offer products in all categories, it is nearly impossible; unless one is jack of all trade master of none - Most sellers major on 1 or 2 categories only.

Lets say I'm a buyer, and I need to get a body spray, pen & a footwear which are spread across three categories, so at checkout I see 4,500 as shipping fees alone; I'm definitely not placing that order.

Now, obviously because of the increased shipping rates, sales have dropped remarkably, cancellations are high too. When we joined konga last year, shipping cost used to be one, regardless of how many stores you're buying from, but when it stopped our sales dropped 95%.The reality is that shipping costs determine whether a customer completes an order or not.

    Here are my suggestions:

    * Shipping fees should be charged per checkout not per store. (After all, Customers are shopping on Konga)
    * Shipping should be free when cart value exceeds a certain amount
    * Commissions may be reviewed if there's no way to fund it

    Plan B

    * Allow per item shipping rates, not on general store (The current shipping option is half way there, because one cannot set shipping rates per item) with this, sellers can offer shipping discounts or free shipping or selected items.

Increasing commission is not the solution. Because the current commission is the high side. If you are thinking that you want to chase some sellers away just to fulfil someone's intention intention, then know that life is a matter of opportunity, and all fingers are not equal.

@Afolabi, it is true that merchants don't ship items in time for it to get delivered at once; but some other e-shops offer free delivery when cart value reaches a threshold and the items arrive separately. How do they do it?

That's why I stated earlier that commissions may be reviewed, this will even phase out unserious sellers, improve general sales and ensure customer loyalty.
    Thanks@Ebere

To say the truth, we merchants are NOT helping matter in this regard. It is very difficult for konga to set shipping charge per check out because if a buyer buys from different stores, we merchants don't usually drop off our items on time for konga to deliver the complete order. So, we are also contributing to this. But what I can say is that, the shipping charges should be reduced and affordable. For example, #3000 shipping charge to some selected location is on the high side. Also, other shipping charges should be reviewed and make it affordable. Truly, we are loosing sales because of this and there's high rate of cancellation these days. Regards!
