  • Product Visibility On Category Level

Selling on Konga Created 3 years ago | Updated 3 years ago

I have just started selling on Konga but I am quite conversant with e-commerce generally. Last night, I went through the category that my products are in (Sports & Fitness) in an attempt to view my products on the category level. However, to my surprise, it took a very long time to find them as a few of my categories are loaded with products from various sellers. What I deduced was the fact that the system seems to put the oldest products first and the newest ones last. For me, this is a SERIOUS problem for both buyers and sellers, because if a buyer comes to the category and sees the same old products at the top of the category, they may be put off and choose not to visit the category or website again. To make matters worse, the system takes a very long time to load new products and this could actually frustrate buyers who are simply browsing through product categories. Then for the seller, if my products NEVER make it to the top, many buyers will simply never stumble on the products that I have just uploaded.

My solution is for Konga to put the newest/most recently uploaded products at the start of the category. This way, we keep the website interesting with the new additions (for customers) and for sellers, everyone has adequate visibility for their products.

I really think you should consider my proposal because it seems that if things carry on this way, the only way customers can actually get to know about your products is through direct marketing, which doesn't really make sense to me. We are all spending a long time uploading all of these products, so I think it’s only fair if people get to see them!!

I look forward to your comments/response on this matter.

Moments after I submitted my post below, two of my products on the top 15 search results were bumped off. Mere coincidence? Not likely, but I STRONGLY hope so.
I guess my efforts to offer a constructive criticism and bounce off ideas was not received warmly. Isn't that what this forum is about?
I hope that someone from konga will explain to me what just happened.

Bridget brought up an important point. i also recently began selling on konga and even recently enabled free shipping. i actually typed the title of my product word for word in the konga search box and i couldn't find it.

even when i filtered the results by free shipping, it brought up nothing. my product is missing from the results. yet it has been approved and is live on the store. i simply don't understand it.

i'd appreciate konga looking into this.

    Bridget,
You bring up a GREAT point here. I think its unfair for some customers when their products isn't visible to buyers. I brought this issue up a few posts back, but no one ever paid attention to it. Take for a example, when your search for "door mat", 8 of the first 15 search results is from one store, the other 7 search results are distributed among 5 other stores. This one store has 50% if the first 15 search results. Now this is an unfair distribution. Its even more concerning because I have better ratings and have more door mat range & variety than the store with more visibility. It even gets worse for us when the customer is using a phone to search for the item, which means our product will never be seen because they will have to scroll all the way to the bottom.

I think that a possible solution will be to shuffle the search results every now and then in order to give everyone a fair chance.

    My two cents
